kandle experience faq’s

  • Reservations are not required but we highly recommend them! There are a limited number of seats at our candle bar and walk-ins will be accepted if space is available.

  • All kandle experience participants must sign a waiver, or have one signed by a legal guardian, prior to starting the activity. These can be completed online before you arrive at the shop. There are certain inherent risks associated with candle making, such as handling hot wax, and we want our chandlers to be fully informed.

  • Be comfortable! But not too comfortable! We will have aprons available but suggest you leave the designer duds at home, just in case.

  • Pouring your own candle means you will be handling hot wax, glass containers and fragrance oils so participants must be at least 7 years old. (and because our insurance company said so) Additionally, children under 7 will not be permitted in the candle bar area.

    All chandlers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

    Since our shop is not huge, we ask that any children not participating in the kandle experience stay home. Plus, we want Mom to R-E-L-A-X during this experience.

  • $40 covers the entire process to create your own custom scented candle. This includes your choice of vessel, up to 3 fragrances you blend yourself at the candle bar and a lid. We throw in our expertise to guide you through the process and our love of a good time and a good laugh! Which we guarantee is contagious. Oh… the wax and wick are included too (kind of important).

  • Your spot at the candle bar is reserved for 1 hour. Once you have selected and blended your fragrance, the candle pouring process takes about 25 to 30 minutes.

    Once poured, your candle will need time to cool. See When can i take my candle home? below.

  • We offer guests full refunds for cancellations made up to 24 hours (1 day) prior to their experience. For same-day or next-day cancellations, refunds will not be issued.

  • If you are more than 20 minutes late for your reservation, we will try to accommodate you, but it is not guaranteed and you may need to reschedule. The full experience takes up to an hour and we don’t want to rush you!

  • Absolutely! We would LOVE to host your event or party! A kandle experience is a great way to celebrate birthdays, bachelorette parties, company outings, daddy-daughter dates, girls’ night out or any other excuse to have some fun!

    Let us know when making your reservation if this is for a special occasion. We will reach out to ask how we can make this a fantastic experience for you and your guests.

  • Yes! While our candle bar and kitten klubhouse are in the same space, they are completely closed off from each other and have separate filtration systems. Last thing we need is cat hair in our wax.

    While we have taken every precaution to ensure the safety of our cat-allergic chandlers, the assumption of risk is yours.

  • Once poured, your candle will need 2 to 3 hours to cool before it is ready to take home. You may come back another day to pick up your candle or ask about shipping options at an additional charge.

    Keep in mind, if you poured your candle during the last 2 hours of the business day, it may not be ready to pick up until the following day.

    We will hold your candle for 30 days guaranteed. After 90 days we will find another home for your candle.

  • May we suggest a kitten experience?

    If kittens aren’t your thing, please dine or shop with our neighbors. Click here to explore options in the area.

    Be sure to shop our pre-made candles, candle care tools and branded merchandise while you wait.

  • We highly recommend you wait a full two days before burning your candle for the first time. This will allow the fragrance to bind completely with the wax and ensure a better scent throw.

  • All wicks & wickers fragrance oils are 100% phthalate-free. We use all-natural Golden Brands 464 wax produced from US grown soybeans with soy based additives.

    Our premade candles available for purchase are also made with this wax with a beeswax center embed.

    Most of our fragrance oils are also free of carcinogens, mutagens, reproductive toxins, organ toxins and acute toxins.

  • If you really want too, sure… but the price doesn’t change. If you prefer a lesser scent throw from your candle, ask our wicks & whiskers chandlers about reducing the amount of fragrance oil to achieve that effect.

  • You may choose up to three fragrance oils to create your signature scented candle. We have taken some of the guesswork out by providing suggested scent pairings, but feel free to experiment! Our wicks & whiskers chandlers are there to assist as well. This includes throwing out your first concoction that made you nauseous.

  • Sounds like a great idea but unfortunately, no. Creating a safe-burning candle is our number one priority. We are not able to guarantee your vessel will perform safely if used to create your candle. Our vessels come from one of the foremost vendors in the candle making business that shares our safety priority.

  • Absolutely! Plus we donate 10% of the proceeds from all pre-made candle sales to our rescue partner.

    We also carry candle care tools, rechargeable lighters and branded merchandise.

  • Hhmmm… probably not but we might come close! A kandle experience means creating your own signature scent. If your heart is set on a fragrance, ask one of our wicks & whiskers chandlers to assist.

    We offer over 60 fragrance oils (and adding!) with numerous combinations so we think you will find a new favorite!

  1. Follow the instructions of the klubhouse kounselor

  2. Children must be supervised at all times

  3. Do not pull on a kitten’s tail or any part of their body.

  4. Do not pick up the kittens. If you are sitting and a kitten decides to hop into your lap, enjoy it!

  5. Do not chase the kittens

  6. Please let the kittens enjoy their catnap. Pet them all you want but please don’t’ try to engage them in play. They may wake up cranky.

  7. If a kitten is eating or using a litter box, please wait until they are finished to interact with them.

  8. The wall furniture is for the kittens only. Do not climb on any part of these structures.

  9. Do not feed the kittens. If you are visiting the klubhouse at mealtime you may ask to assist! Kittens are not allowed to consume human food or drink.

  10. Do not let the kittens outside of the klubhouse, no matter what they tell you.

    Our rescue partner has made every effort to ensure our fosters are ready for the kitten klubhouse, but they are animals and may behave unpredictably. Plus, they have claws and teeth that may cause injury and we want our guests to be fully informed of the risks.

  • Participants in the kitten experience must be at least 7 years old to ensure the safety of both the kittens and child (and because our insurance company said so). Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

  • $15 covers a 50-minute visit in the kitten klubhouse to play with our fosters, get some kitten love, or just watch them be their adorable little selves.

    Your fee helps us with the upkeep of the kitten klubhouse and purchase kitten essentials like food and litter. We do not charge our partner rescue and do not take any portion of the adoption fee.

  • Yes. While our fosters have been selected by our rescue partner to ensure a pleasant experience for both kittens and visitors, we still expect them to be treated with kindness and respect. Remember, you are visiting their home and need to interact with them on their terms.

  • Absolutely! First tip is… they are nothing like puppies.

    • Kittens can be easily spooked so avoid yelling, running, quick sudden movements or other disruptive behavior.

    • Approach the kittens in a calm and relaxed manner.

    • Keep your voice at a normal volume

    • The toys in the klubhouse are kitten tested and approved.

    • Be aware, bare legs are fair game to kittens

    • We have artwork inside the klubhouse that illustrates kitten moods and cues to help you understand what they may be feeling.

    • If you have any other questions, our klubhouse kounselor is there to assist!

  • All adoptions are handled by our partner Killer Kitties Rescue. Let the klubhouse kounselor know which kitten you would like to adopt and they will get you started. Click here for the online application or to check out other felines looking for their furever home.

  • For the health and safety of our fosters, outside cats are not permitted in the kitten klubhouse. We understand you may be wanting to see how your cat reacts to a kitten before bringing one home, but this is not the right time or place. We can connect you with our partner rescue for help.

  • There are dozens of visitors to the kitten klubhouse each day and being picked up multiple times by multiple people can cause the kittens stress. Stressed kittens will hide and not benefit or develop from their klubhouse experience. Now if one hops into your lap, enjoy it! If one is acting like it wants to be picked up, ask the klubhouse kounselor for assistance.

    At this time we do not offer private kitten klubhouse experiences.

  • We have partnered with Killer Kitties Rescue of Stanly County to provide foster care for their rescues. They ensure all our kittens are healthy and ready for the kitten klubhouse experience. They have had full medical exams, have been spayed or neutered and fully vaccinated.

  • We are experienced kitten owners (actually, our cats own us!) and have created what we believe is a safe and comfortable space for our fosters to thrive and interact on their terms. It is way better than a cage at a pet store. If our klubhouse kounselors, or our partner rescue volunteers, see a kitten that appears unhappy, stressed or not adapting well, we will make alternate foster arrangements for the kitten.

  • Let the klubhouse kounselor know which kitten you would like to adopt and we will work with Killer Kitties Rescue to arrange a private meeting for your entire family.

  • By booking more kitten experiences! Visiting and playing with our fosters is a tremendous help! Inside the kitten klubhouse you will see a QR code in which you can make monetary donations directly to Killer Kitties Rescue. 10% of proceeds from premade candle sales will be donated to our partner, so buy a candle on your way out.

    We can accept in-kind donations of food, litter, supplies and toys that are unopened. What we are not able to use will be donated to Killer Kitties Rescue.
